Recent Accomplishments

    With the generous support of our contributors, HIPPY USA:
  • Debuted the Home Visitor Credential process. 232 home visitors from 35 sites participated in Phase I with an overall success rate of 85%, demonstrating the depth of knowledge among home visitors and the tremendous contribution they make.
  • Provided Stellar Awards to seven new exemplary sites; the total number of Stellar sites is now 62.
  • Hosted the 20th National Conference in the St. Petersburg, Florida with more than 500 in attendance.
  • Honored Carol H. Rasco with the Avima D. Lombard Award.
  • Presented Dr. Ruth Westheimer with the first ever HIPPY Champion Award.
  • Developed the new age 5 curriculum, which reflects current research, state educational standards, federal education guidelines and feed back from the "field".
  • Translated the new Age 5 Home Visitor Guide into Spanish.
  • Developed the first in a series of education training tools for coordinators to use with home visitors called Everyday Talk (ET).
  • Continued to work with other national home visiting programs on promoting the Education Begins at Home Act (EBAH).
  • Engaged in collaborations with groups like the Home Visit Forum, the National Human Services Assembly and the Youth Policy Action Center.
  • Organized a day on Capitol Hill during where HIPPY staff, parents, board members and volunteers from 24 states visited with more than 80 legislative offices to educate about HIPPY.
  • Created and disseminated a new guide, Using Research for Advocacy, the latest in the Keys to Sustainability series that aims to help local HIPPY sites build long-lasting and effective programs.
  • Recognized in the RAND Corporation report, Early Childhood Interventions: Proven Results, Future Promise, as an early childhood intervention program that improves the lives of participating children and families.
  • Nine new sites joined the organization, including five in Alabama, two in Florida, one in Texas and one in Oklahoma.
  • Created and disseminated a new national DVD highlighting programs in Texas and New York.
